Background/Purpose

Procedure

Subject is standing with arms at sides. Clinician places goniometers in the coronal/frontal plane at T12 and the sacrum and zeroes them. Subject is instructed to slide their hand down their leg on one side at a time and the value is recorded . The sacral value is subtracted from the T12 value to achieve the measurement. Lateral flexion 20 degrees or less is considered an impairment for ADLs.
